I’ve driven one of those. I worked at the Ford dealership in town, and it just so happened that the day it come off the truck we had gotten about 18"s of snow.

So I spent a few minutes playing around the snow with it. It was fun. The 315hp 3.7 is plenty. That said I never did drive it in the highway.

There are more civilian Explorers in the SFBay area, so it’s often a matter of checking the existence of a roof rack to see whether it is a cop or not. In Chicago, if it’s not slathered with police decals, it’s probably an unmarked car.
